Fanny Austen Knight is a relative normal 23 year old girl, she is the oldest of her siblings and she comes from a rather modest family. She had what could be considered a relative normal childhood, though her mother died when she was relatively young and she has grew up with her aunts as surrogate mother figures, she is especially attached to her Aunt Jane since she always encouraged her to do what she wanted and to follow her dreams, it was with that advice at heart that Fanny decided to instead of going to Med School as her father expected from her (especially considering she had managed to pass the admission exam and that was quite a feat on itself since not a lot managed to do so) and decided instead to study Architecture, earning a scholarship for it instead.

After finishing her studies, due to her youth finding a job was a hard thing to do and no one seemed to believe in her, due to the situation of her family and the need for money she accepted a job to be the nanny of the Gibbs children while still not giving up her dream to pursue her career.
